Spotted Loosestrife
This perennial plant is native to moist areas such as marshes, ponds, or meadows. It is valued as an ornamental plant for its striking yellow flower spikes.

Japanese yew
This evergreen conifer is native to Japan, Korea, China, and parts of Russia. Here, it is often grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks.

daisy
This plant species, part of the daisy family, grows in every meadow and is one of the most well-known plant species in Central Europe. It blooms almost year-round.

Engelmann spruce
This conifer is native to the western United States and Canada and is known for its narrow, tapered needles and conical cones.

Norway spruce
This evergreen conifer is native to northern Europe and is very common there. It has short, pointed needles and conical cones.

Shrub rose
Shrub roses grow broadly with sometimes overhanging shoots. With their very elegant, double flowers, shrub roses can reach a height of 120–200 cm, depending on the location.

Firethorn
A plant from the rose family, they are evergreen shrubs with thorny branches and bright red berries that are particularly striking in autumn.

yucca
The yucca is a genus of plants in the asparagus family and originates from Central America. They are evergreen, drought-resistant, and produce white, bell-shaped flowers.

Cucumber Magnolia
The Cucumber Magnolia is a species of tree in the Magnolia genus, thus belonging to the Magnoliaceae family. The name refers to its irregularly curved, leathery fruits.

elm
A fast-growing tree with a dense, pyramidal crown. The bark is brownish-gray, and the leaves are glossy dark green with only slight autumn color.

Common Columbine
These perennial plants, with their striking, spur-shaped flowers in various colors, are an insect magnet. However, they are poisonous to many other animals and to humans.

lilac
Commonly known for its fragrant, purple or white flowers, this deciduous tree or shrub, native to Europe, is often found in gardens and parks.

Black pine
The black pine is an evergreen conifer native to Europe. It has long, dark green needles and rough, gray to black bark.

Winter linden tree
In autumn, its golden yellow color adds to the colorful foliage. It can grow up to 40 meters tall and live for up to 1,000 years.

Golden-fruited hawthorn
This deciduous tree or shrub is native to North America. It is characterized by its golden fruits, which shine strikingly in the fall, making it a very popular ornamental plant.

American hornbeam
This medium-sized deciduous tree, native to the eastern and central United States, produces light yellow to orange fall foliage.

American red pine
This evergreen conifer is native to North America. It has long, flexible needles and reddish-brown bark. The cones are also light reddish-brown and almost spherical in shape.

heron
Herons mostly hunt in freshwater. In our park, they like to prey on goldfish in the ponds. The heron family comprises 62 species. However, only nine of these live in Germany.

Snowberry
This deciduous tree is native to North America. It is a popular ornamental plant in gardens and landscaped parks, captivating with its striking white berries in the fall.

Real walnut
This fast-growing tree can reach between 25 and 30 meters tall and live for 200 years. The fruits of the walnut tree are enjoyed by humans and animals alike.

Squirrel
Squirrels live not only in forests but also in parks that offer them ample food. They don't hibernate, only hibernate, and like to hide supplies in the ground in the fall.

Tree of life
This conifer is an evergreen tree native to North America. It is often used as a hedge plant due to its fast and slender growth.

Crabapple
Ornamental apples grow to a maximum of eight meters tall and produce particularly beautiful blossoms. They are less well-known than their high-yielding cousin, the cultivated apple. The fruits are nevertheless edible.

Hase
Hares reach a head-body length of 25 to 70 centimeters and a weight of 0.4 to 7 kilograms. They are largely crepuscular and nocturnal.

Coastal fir
Also known as the giant fir, this conifer is native to the western United States and Canada. It is also popularly grown as a Christmas tree.

lily of the valley
The lily of the valley is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 30 cm. It has a rhizome that can reach a depth of up to 50 cm, which facilitates its spread.

Hedgehog
The hedgehog is Wild Animal of the Year 2024. It is a solitary animal and primarily active at night. Its diet ranges from insects and earthworms to frogs and mice.

Golden shower
Laburnum is a small deciduous tree or shrub with yellow, hanging flowers and is often grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. All parts of the plant are poisonous!

Cherry plum
The small deciduous tree or shrub blooms very early in the spring with numerous white to pink blossoms. In the summer, it produces small, edible fruits.

silver birch
The silver birch is an elegant deciduous tree with white bark and drooping branches. It has triangular, toothed leaves that turn golden yellow in autumn.

Common hazel
The hazel bush belongs to the birch family and is known for its edible nuts. It has round, toothed leaves and yellow catkins in spring.

Cherry laurel
These evergreen plants from the rose family quickly form low-maintenance hedges. They have shiny, leathery leaves, white flowers, and fruits that are poisonous to humans.

Bird vetch
These ornamental perennial plants belong to the legume family. They have purple-blue-violet flowers and are widespread in Europe, North Africa, and Asia.

European beech
This tree is characterized by its smooth gray bark and bright green leaves. In Central Europe, the common beech is a common tree species in forests and parks.

Silver maple
This fast-growing deciduous tree, known for its deeply lobed, silvery-green leaves, is often used as an ornamental tree. In autumn, the leaves turn yellow to red.

Insects
Our park features several insect hotels that serve as nesting and overwintering sites for beneficial insects. They also act as pest controllers and pollinators.

Privet
This evergreen shrub is a popular hedge plant. It has dark green leaves that grow in dense clumps and produces fragrant white flowers in June.

Broad-leaved cattail
This beautiful, tall aquatic and marsh plant thrives particularly well in standing water. It has broad, flat leaves and cylindrical, brown inflorescences.

Norway maple
Native throughout Europe, this deciduous tree is characterized by its characteristic five-lobed leaves, which turn bright yellow to orange in autumn.

buckeye
Because of its distinctive fruits, it is also called the "ball tree" in some regions. The horse chestnut extract obtained from the fruits is used to treat venous disorders.

Thick leaf
Crassulaceae are succulent plants that come in many different shapes and sizes. Their characteristic features are thick, fleshy leaves.

Common ivy
An evergreen climbing plant with heart-shaped leaves native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. In many cultures, it symbolizes loyalty and friendship.

American copper beech
This tree is native to the eastern and central regions of North America and is known for its glossy, dark green leaves that turn golden yellow in the fall.

Chinese pear
This medium-sized deciduous tree is known for its white blossoms and edible fruits. They are round in shape, remain firm even when ripe, and taste juicy and sweet.
